Climate Action & Adaptation Programmes in Uganda - Noble Youth Foundation

Building Locally-Led Resilience in Semi-Arid Communities

Status: Ongoing | Focus Area: Climate Change Adaptation

Climate change is a daily reality for communities in Uganda’s cattle corridors. This programme strengthens the capacity of government institutions and local communities to design and implement their own adaptation strategies. Our approach is collaborative and locally-led, promoting knowledge that comes from and serves the people most affected.

Programme Objectives:

  • To strengthen local and national government institutions responsible for climate change response.

  • To promote the inclusive generation, sharing, and utilisation of locally-led adaptation knowledge.

  • To influence resource allocation through engagement with key bodies like Parliament’s Climate Change Committee.

  • To build community resilience against extreme weather challenges and high poverty rates in semi-arid regions.

Active Projects:

  • Climate Adaptation Project (2024–2026)
Partners: International Development Research Centre (IDRC), International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), African Centre for Trade and Development (ACTADE)
Targeting the cattle corridors of Lango and Bukedi, this project empowers local and national agencies, fostering innovation and collaborative knowledge creation to shift climate response dynamics.
